Can You Glue a Broken Denture? Why Super Glue Makes It Worse
When a denture cracks or breaks, the tube of super glue in the kitchen drawer is tempting. It is fast, it is right there, and the pieces seem to hold. Unfortunately, gluing a denture is one of the most common reasons a simple lab repair turns into a longer, more expensive one.

Why super glue does not work on dentures
It is not made for your mouth. Household glues are not designed for constant moisture, heat from food and drink, or daily contact with gum tissue.
It changes the fit. Even a thin layer of glue holds the pieces slightly apart or at an angle. A small shift at the break becomes a big difference in how the teeth meet.
It fails again. Glue is brittle. Chewing forces tend to snap it, often in the same place, and sometimes with new chips along the edge.
It makes the real repair harder. Before the lab can bond acrylic properly, the glue has to be ground out, removing some of the original edges that guide the repair.
What about over-the-counter denture repair kits?
Drugstore kits are meant as a short-term stopgap. They can be better than household glue, but lining up a break accurately by hand is very difficult, and a misaligned home repair still has to be taken apart and redone. If you can get to a lab within a day or two, it is usually better to leave the pieces as they are.
What to do instead
Stop wearing the denture and keep every piece, even small chips.
Rinse gently in cool water and store it in a damp paper towel or small container.
Take a photo of the break so the lab can tell you what to expect.
Bring it in or call. Many repairs are done the same day.

Already glued it?
Do not worry, and do not try to pull it apart. Bring it in as it is and tell us what product you used. In many cases the denture can still be repaired, it just takes more preparation. The bottom line
Glue feels like a fix but it usually costs you time, comfort and money. A lab repair rebuilds the break with denture acrylic, so the denture fits and bites the way it did before. Read how denture repair shops handle broken dentures to see what happens after you drop it off.
